About St. Mary’s Assumption

St. Mary’s Assumption is a Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church located in the Concord area of South St. Louis County Missouri.

Originally founded at 1126 Dolman St. in the Lafayette Square of St. Louis, our parish moved to its current location in 1978.

We are a friendly and welcoming parish, and no you don’t have to be Ukrainian to join us at the church! We celebrate Liturgy in the Byzantine Rite, as opposed to the more widely known Roman Rite.

All Catholics in good standing and under the usual restrictions (no mortal or serious sins) are more than welcome to not only join us in worship, but also receive Holy Communion.

Structure of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church

The Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church is one of the 24 Sui Juris (Self-Governing) Churches that make up the entire unity of the Catholic Church. Our Patriarch is His Beatitude Sviatoslav, Father and Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church.

The UGCC is independent in governing itself, but we are still fully in union with the Pope, and with all Catholic churches.

Our Eparchy is part of the larger Archeparchy (Archdiocese) of Philadelphia, headed by Metropolitan Borys Gudziak.

Our parish is specifically part of the St. Nicholas Eparchy (diocese) located in Chicago, Illinois. Our Bishop is Most Rev. Benedict.
